The expenses of commuting to and from work (or to and from school) such as gas, tolls, bus fare, train fare, taxis, Uber rides, parking, etc. are not deductible on your Federal return.  Sorry.

Are meals, lodging, misc expenses deductible for overnight trips?

As a gambler the iris considers yourself employed. So the I r s would have you file a schedule C. So travel expenses are tax to doubtable. That includes and not limited to travel to and from and lodging.
