ItsDeductible Online is not importing to Desktop for 2024

I've used ItsDeductible Online for the past 3 tax years, and I have my 2024 data ready to be imported.  However, when I go to import into TurboTax Desktop on Windows, it asks me if I want to use the same account I'm logged into (which is the right Intuit account).  Then I see a quick pop-up that reads "Contacting ItsDeductible" then it returns to TurboTax Desktop, but nothing is imported.

I've tried signing into ItsDeductible Online in my browser, I've signed out of it and back in.  I've also restarted TurboTax Desktop, and I've rebooted my laptop to try again.  Same behavior.

Any ideas how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Our tech team is currently looking into this. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

TurboTax is working to improve the process, but in the meantime, please only use alphabet letters and spaces in your ItsDeductible descriptions. Removing any special characters, including quotes, apostrophes, etc. will allow for a successful import.

I am using the 2024 Premier desktop edition for Windows and can import using Its Deductible.

If you are using the TurboTax desktop editions for Windows, try this

Save your tax return.  Close the TurboTax program

Right click on the TurboTax icon

Click on Properties

Click on the Compatibility tab

Check the box Run this program as an administrator

Click on Apply and OK

Start the TurboTax program again and see if the problem persists.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I did try this (closed out, Run As Administrator, say Yes).  I did the same steps, trying to import from ItsDeductible.  It then again verifies what account to use, I say Yes, and it pops up "Contacting ItsDeductible" for a brief moment, disappears and returns me to the main Deductions page.  Nothing is imported, no error message logged.

I even tried signing out of my Intuit account within TurboTax Desktop, and re-logging in.  That also didn't work (same behavior).

I'm using TurboTax Home and Business on Windows 11.

Something to try:  Are you using a VPN?  If so, try without.

Import ItsDeductible
There are a few workarounds within the article -

1. Make sure there are no donations entered into the tax return before starting.

2. Search for "donations" and use the -Jump to link to restart the Interview.

Left side menu > select Tax Tools > choose "Tools" > pop up screen "Tools Center", select "Topic List" > Your Deductions & Credits > "Tax Breaks" scroll down screen to "Import ItsDeductible Online". I hope this helps.

Import ItsDeductible

Did anyone have a solution for this issue. I have the exact same problem as explained in the thread

Unfortunately no.  Long story short, I entered my information directly into TurboTax again.

Long story long, I ended up opening a case with their business account support portal.  Which that is via Facebook…weird, but who knows.  The TurboTax folks were very nice, but we went in circles for literally 5 weeks.  I sent a debug dump of the tax return, tried starting a completely new tax return, and they had me “try” things that didn’t exist in the software.  I got the feeling towards the end that they had no clue what was wrong, and were waiting for me to give up and just do it manually.  That’s what I eventually did.

One thing to note that may help you: when I was entering all my line items again into ItsDeductible inside of TurboTax (where the online version gets imported into), some of my records had names that were too long for the input field.  So it’s possible that the import was silently failing because the fields were too long.  So if you have any that are long, try shortening the item descriptions.

Other than that, I’m pretty disappointed in the support.  I’ve used TurboTax for 23 years for my own taxes, and this experience has me considering some alternatives for next year.  My confidence level that they’ll actually fix a real issue is very low.
