Medical Expense DeductionWe're sorry to hear you had medical expenses. Your medical expense deduction is $15,044 this year.

It is a fixed amount. I cannot change it. Why?

    No.  Medical expenses are not a fixed amount.  You would have had to enter this somewhere.  The medical expense deduction is the amount over 7.5% of your AGI.  

     

    If you entered an SSA-1099 and had Medicare Premiums paid, this may be included in the amount.

     

    If you did not enter anything, then you can go to Deductions and Credits>>Medical Expenses and then walk back through and see where the numbers are.
