Question

My HSA contribution is showing up on IT-203 Line 16 (Other Income) under the NY State amount. Does NY tax HSA contributions? Thanks!

I’m using TurboTax Online for my New York State return. If NY does not tax HSA contributions, how to remove it in TurboTax online?

    It is likely that your HSA contribution is being taxed on your federal return but you haven't noticed.

     

    Please go look at line 8f on Schedule 1 (1040) to see if your HSA contribution is there. Also, please go look at the 5329, Part VII and tell us what numbers are there.

     

    TurboTax is almost certainly working correctly, so please do not try to "fix" it on the NY return without understanding what the issue is.
