Question

My Ohio return shows I have 2300+ EIC but yet when I look at turbo, it shows 0, even when I get passed child credit, still 0 refund. Why is turbo tax doing this?

State refund amount not showing up on dashboard and st the end it says your not getting a refund, but I clearly am. So what’s the deal.

OH gives you 30% of your federal EIC.

The program shows you that you qualify for a credit over $2300.

    Here is the difference.

    • The federal EIC is refundable and you actually get the money added to your refund.
    • OH it is non-refundable and it just reduces your tax liability.

Ohio has reduced your tax liability to zero and your OH EIC is used. OH will not refund the extra portion beyond your tax bill.

So, depending on the size of your tax liability, that will change your refund amount some. Not the big numbers like the federal government and not into your hands.
