Question

My turbo tax shows a home energy credit of $2,414 but does not show if it is being applied to my taxes. How do I find out if the credit was applied to my tax liability?

Form 5695 is used to calculate the residential energy credits.

    • The residential clean energy credit, and
    • The energy efficient home improvement credit.

    To check on your return:

On schedule 3 additional Credits and Payments Part I, check line 5a and 5b for The residential clean energy credit, and

The energy efficient home improvement credit.

Total of nonrefundable credits goes on form 1040 line 20.

    To preview your return:

    1. From the left rail menu in TurboTax Online, select Tax Tools (You may have to scroll down on the left rail menu.)
    2. Select Tax Tools then select Tools
    3. On the pop-up menu titled “Tools Center”, select View Tax Summary
    4. On the left sidebar, select Preview my 1040
    5. Scroll down to see schedule 3
