Hi, I'm filing as surviving spouse and my son Lucas who is 23 lives with me. I pay all the home living expenses.  I have Lucas listed as a member of my household, but he does not qualify as a dependent because he made more than $5,000.  Does having him listed as a household member help reduce my tax bracket?

No, since he doesn't qualify as your dependent, you will not get any tax break for him. However, if he was a full-time student his income wouldn't matter as far qualifying as your dependent, until the age of 24.
