I have over $13,000 in damaged personal property that occured due to a lightning strike during the May 2024 Duracho storm that hit the Houston TX area.  It is all personal items do I need to list each item individually when the insurance deductable of $4958 is applied to all in one lump sum?  Or can I lump all in a title of Personal Property the way the insurance company did?

Then in July hurricane Byerl hit and damaged the house fence etc of our home as well at the house that my husband inherrited less than a mile away.  Can I enter both or do I have to choose 1 to enter? They both have about the same deductable.

You will lump related items for the lightening strike. You may have personal items (like clothes, computer, jewelry) in one group and yard items (like fence and plants) in another. Type of property is just a general description - you can't list every item blown away and ruined.

Enter each casualty separately.

One for the first storm that hit.  One for the hurricane for personal use property.

  • If the inherited house was a rental, it will not be a part of this.
  • If it was a second home, then it is added here.

You can list multiple items on the 4684.

I am sorry for your loss and have listed a few things to help.
