Hello,

I'm from Spain.  I arrived US in January 2022. I have a fellowship and my contractor pay me a compensation (stipend). In 2023 and 2024 (2022 and 2023 fiscal year) I filed 1042-S form using Sprintax since I was nonresident Alien. Now, I'm resident alien and I have also received the 1042-S form and I tried to use turbotax but didn't find any way to use the 1042-S form. In the 1042-S form I have 3858 gross income and 540 Tax withhold. Is there any way to to file the taxes using Turbotax?

Thank you so much

Yes, you can report that using TurboTax

Please enter the income and tax withheld following these steps:

    Enter the income

    Under Wages & Income

(Select ALL INCOME if using Online to open)

    Less Common Income

    Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C     START

Scroll down to "Other reportable income"   START

"Yes" to "Any other income?" Type "1042-S" or something similar for the description and enter the amount from your 1042-S

    Enter the tax withheld

    Deductions & Credits

    Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

    Other Income Taxes     START

Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099

    Enter the tax withheld

Keep your copy of the 1042-S with your tax file

Thank you so much for your answer Kris!

Quick question, I don't have any other tax form, W2 or whatever. It is possible to file just that 1042-S. Is that right?

    Thank you so much,

Yes, the 1042-S is informational and is entered based on the type of income. You can follow the steps described by @KrisD15 above for the fellowship income and the tax.
