My mother passed away in Nov 2023.  We started probate, and sold her house in April 2024 for about 375,000.  After paying everything off, the 3 siblings received about $75,000 each.  I am the executor.  We did get a 1099-s for the estate.  Do I need to file taxes for the estate for 2024?   Thank you

Depending on your facts and circumstances, you may have to file a Form 1041, U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts. This can be done using TurboTax Business.

An estate administrator must file the final tax return for a deceased person separate from their estate's income tax return.

In general, if the estate generates more than $600 in annual gross income, you are required to file Form 1041, U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts. An estate may also need to pay quarterly estimated taxes. See Form 1041 instructions for information on when to file quarterly estimated taxes.
