Question

TurboTax assumes Wife is under Husband’s family HDHP, so it flags her $4,150 as excess. But she has her own single HDHP, allowing her own HSA and $4,150 contribution

Can't find a way to bypass Turbotax "who made the excess contribution" window

Per IRS: "If each spouse has family coverage under a separate plan, the contribution limit for 2024 is $8,300." I In other words, the maximum for both of you together is $8,300.

    See: Rules for married people

If you contributed $4,150 or less, and you are still getting an error, in the HSA interview, make sure you've indicated she was covered by a HDHP.
