Turbotax carryover capital losses shown for 2024 not shown on 2023 return

I am puzzled.  I was attempting to use the free Turbo Tax program for my 2024 return since my only income for 2024 was my SSDI.  However, once I proceeded to the section that pertained to capital gains/losses it showed a capital loss carryover from 2023 that is not shown on my 2023 return.  So because that carryover is shown, I am not allowed to use the free Turbo Tax program.  I have been a longtime Turbo Tax client and in the past have had more involved returns.  However, this year that is not the case and I do not see the need to nor can I afford the assisted version of Turbo Tax.   I would greatly appreciate any help, recommendations or suggestions you might offer.  Thank you.

It depends.  Double check your 2023 tax return for any capital loss carryover.  If you do not have one then you can delete it in your 2024 tax return. Once you delete your Schedule D, you can continue to complete your return.

Delete your Schedule D using the link below:

You'll need to delete this form  Schedule D----------.

    • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
    • If you're using TurboTax Desktop software and need to delete a form, click here.
