TurboTax wants us to fill out a 2555-T box 26. We can't get past this to submit taxes though we don't qualify for Bona fide residence or Physical presence.

given your situation i.e.  Canadian residency  for only two weeks  for the tax year 2024, assuming you are a US person ( citizen/GreenCard) and that  you have moved to Canada for at least a year, there are two options/path you can use :

PATH --A

1.   You file your US return as usual -- W-2 / Self-employment income  just like you did for 2023; 

2. For the Canadian income ( the two weeks ) you  file as if  this was self-employed income -- show your gross income ( before any withholdings ). This will go on Schedule-C and the net of the  income will attract  Self-Employment taxes   ( Schedule-SE  at 15.3% ) and will also result in an adjustment of 50% of the SECA taxes.  Because US and Canada have a totalization agreement in place , you can exclude this tax by using a certificate of  participation from the Canadian SSA Equivalent.  But for two weeks , I don't know if it will make a difference.

3. Then go to Deductions and Credits tab and from the list of  deductions/credits , choose Foreign Tax credit.  This will ( through a whole bunch of screens  allow to fill out form 1116 ( Foreign Tax Credit).  Your Foreign source income here is the two weeks gross income  from Canada and the  foreign Tax is the  Taxes withheld  ( income tax ) by Canada.  The allowable credit is the lesser of  the US tax on this  income and  that levied by Canada.

PATH B

1.  Run your return  as if the Canadian income was  from Domestic sources -- Note if any amounts are due  for the federal taxes ( hopefully not ).  But if yes ,  get Turbo Tax  to print out the 1040-V and send in the payment.  This is to avoid  any interest / penalty charges.

2. Now  you can file a form 2350 requesting time to  file a complete return --- this is because  in order for you to be able to exclude the Canadian for the year 2024, you cannot file till you meet the  12 month test period  and this cannot happen till  Dec. XX, 2025 -- a year after you established  your foreign tax home.  This  will allow  extension to file, but no extension to pay -- thus my   suggestions  on item 1 above.  See here -->
