Question

we listed the home for sale, the county came in and gave us permit violations at us. We had to gut and rebuild the laundry room or we couldn’t sell. Is that deductible?

The laundry room was already in place but was done from previous owner that never pulled permits. We had to spend thousands on pulling permits and having the room completely gutted and remodeled to meet code. Is any of that deductible?

    The cost to remodel the laundry room was an improvement to the home so the cost can be added to the basis of the home when it is sold.
