Can I list Inherited property donation. If so, where do I put the amount of the donation?

    Yes. A gift of inherited land can be a charitable donation. For property worth more than $5,000 you'll need to get a formal appraisal.  You'll also have to make sure the appraiser is a member of a recognized professional group or meets minimum education and experience guidelines. If you don't, the IRS can disallow your deduction.

    You must file one or more Forms 8283 if the amount of your deduction for each noncash contribution is more than $500. You usually may deduct gifts of capital gain property at their FMV. However, you must reduce your deduction amount by the amount of any appreciation under certain circumstances.

    • Example relative to your land: The contributed property is certain tangible personal property with a claimed value of more than $5,000 and is sold, exchanged, or otherwise disposed of by the charity during the year in which you made the contribution, and the charity has not made the required certification of exempt use (such as on Form 8282, Donee Information Return, Part IV).
