Personal property taxes on cars, based on their value, is a deductible tax expense for federal purposes.

You can report the amount you paid.  Here's how to do this in TurboTax Online:

    1. Navigate to Federal > Deductions & Credits > Cars and Other Things You Own > Personal Property Taxes

    2. Enter the the personal property taxes on the car combined with any other personal property tax you paid.

Attempting to update personal property taxes (from Deductions & Credits / Cars and Other Things / Personal Property Tax, results in an application error "Hmmm looks like we hit a snag". Application version: 2024r19.022 (build date 2/24/25 @ 8:40)

If by chance you are using TurboTax Online/Mobile, you may want to clear background debris (not necessary for TurboTax Desktop).

In this situation, first please try clearing the cookies and cache.   It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis with online activity.

    • Close your TurboTax return first.

Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example.  Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give  you options.

Once this is complete open your return and try again.
