Please follow the instructions below:

  • Click Federal Taxes
  • Click Wages & Income
  • Scroll down to Interest & Dividends
  • Click Start next to Interest from Seller-Financed Loans
  • Answer Yes to Did you receive interest payments from a seller-financed mortgage?
  • Proceed through the rest of the interview to enter your mortgage interest.

My father owned a property that he was selling in a seller financed mortgage (land contract) to another person.

He has since died, so I am using TurboTax Business to complete the Estate taxes. The general instructions for reporting the interest income in other TurboTax programs is:

Federal TAxes

WAges & INcome

INterest & Dividends

INterest from Seller financed mortgages

However, that is not an option in TurboTax Business.  Please let me know where I can enter this information?

On a form 1041 there is no such designation ... just enter it as plain old interest that goes on line 10.
