Here are some common reasons why TurboTax might show your health care coverage as lapsed:
Incorrect Information: If you or your spouse had a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) but did not have a Health Savings Account (HSA), TurboTax might incorrectly flag a lapse
Data Entry Errors: Ensure all information is entered correctly, especially regarding the type of health plan and coverage periods
To resolve this, you can:
Review Your Entries: Double-check the information you entered for health insurance coverage.
Take a closer look at the question on the screen just prior to the one telling you there was a lapse in coverage (see screen shot below)
If both you and your spouse are covered under the same family plan, then the person with the HDHP in their name will indicate they had a family plan. The other person will indicate they had None because the HDHP was not in their name.
