Why won't turbotax let me input my childcare expenses for the dependent care credit?

TurboTax may not be letting you input your childcare expenses for the dependent care credit due to several common issues:

  1. Income Requirement: You must enter income earned from working before you can claim the childcare credit. If you are filing jointly, both spouses must show income or indicate that one or both were students or disabled
  2. Eligible Dependents: Ensure your dependents meet the eligibility criteria. The dependent must be under age 13 or physically or mentally unable to care for themselves
