Question

Will my lender confirm my mortgage interest points if I inherited the property and don't have a copy of the closing disclosure handy? Can I ask as successor of interest?

If the mortgage isn't in my name, but I am the successor of interest/beneficiary of the property, should/can I include info on the 1099-INT if I've been paying it?

If you are asking if your lender will confirm your mortgage interest points on an inherited property, you can certainly ask. You may also be able to ask your attorney that represented you at your closing (if you had one).

If you have inherited a house, you can write off the mortgage interest and property taxes on your tax return like you would with any property

did you refinance after inheriting the property? the points would not be immediately deductible but would have to be amortized over the life of the mortgage. Perhaps this is why the 1098 doesn't report the points.
