Cannot set 4/17/2018 as payment date

I am trying to pay my taxes and it is telling me that I am unable to select today as a filing day, but says I need to choose 4/17/2018 or else I will be penalized. I can choose tomorrow, 4/18/2017, but will I be penalized?

"You entered the date show below as the date you want your balance due of $xxxx.xx withdrawn from your bank account. The direct debit date cannot be earlier than one day after the date you transmit your return.

Make sure the date is:

- at least one day after the date you file electronically

-regular banking day

-no later than April 17, 2018 to avoid penalties and interest"

Obviously it makes sense, but how contradictive is that statement? What am I supposed to do if it is telling me not to make payment after 4/17 but also not allowing me to choose 4/17?

You can choose 4/18/2018. You won't be penalized because the IRS has extended the deadline.

I respectfully disagree....the program will NOT accept 04/18/2018 as the date.  It will NOT!  I am one hour and 45 minutes from the deadline....I do NOT want to pay interest or penalties.  Please help!
