can HSA contributions be itemized as a medical insurance ?

that's what I thought.  didn't seem right.  what I used out of HSA was automatically subtracted by turbo tax after I imported the account from fidelity

    thanks

No.  HSA contributions are reported separately, on form 8889, and are not also deductible as medical expenses (that would be double-dipping).

Also, you can't claim as a deductible medical expense, any bill you pay using HSA money.  That's double-dipping again, since you can't deduct an expense that you pay with an HSA from your taxable income if the HSA reimbursement is not part of your taxable income in the first place.
