Question

I will file MFS. I have 2024 1095-A. Marketplace said that record says we are going to file our taxes as "MFJ" and have to pay the premiums if I will file MFS. What to do now? I want to file MFS.

    If you are married and decide to file as Married filing Separately, then you are not eligible for the Premium Tax credit and will have repay any advance premium tax credit received during the year.

     

    Please read this IRS document for more information.

     

    There are exceptions for certain victims of domestic abuse and spousal abandonment. 

     

    Please read this IRS FAQ, question 9.
