Rejected tax Filling code - IND-517-02 - 'DependentSSN'

Hi there

Pls help me fix my tax return which was rejected.

Received email with his rejection.

I think I know why as I mistakenly added my daughter's income into mine. May be this is the prob? She also did file her own and input that someone will claim her as dependent.

IND-517-02 - 'DependentSSN' in the return must not be the same as Primary or Spouse SSN on another return where Primary or Spouse have not indicated that they could be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.

REJ001 - This state return was rejected because the federal taxing authority has not yet accepted or has rejected the federal return.

Thanks you so much.

Your daughter's income should not be entered on your tax return.   If your daughter needs to file a tax return, her income goes on her own tax return--not yours.    If she filed a tax return and said she cannot be claimed as someone else's dependent, but you can claim her as a dependent, that is why your e-file is being rejected.   Are you claiming her?   If so, the duplicate use of her SSN is causing the rejection.   She will need to amend her return after it has been fully processed.   And you can either seek an IRS six digit PIN to e-file your return, or you can print, sign and mail your return that claims her as a dependent.  Either way---remove her income from your own return.

    Thank you for the reply.

How do I remove her income which I somehow wrongly added into  my tax filling. I am claiming her as my Dependent. How do I change/revise it in my Turbo tax and submit?

    Thanks

Did you add a W-2 for her?   Go to Federal>Wages and Income and click on the area to edit a W-2 and remove her W-2.
