Yes we are experiencing issues with entered 1099 amounts being misdirected to our Schedule E. Some times being applied to blank columns. TT needs to clean up their act.  TT 2024 is even more buggy that  TT 2023.

Every year it seems to be of lower reliability. 😞 Not a happy customer and I have been using TT since the 80s.

I installed TT Deluxe on Mon 17 Feb.  It all worked fine with Win 11.  Last Win update was 2/13.

I did my Federal taxes and started on State.  On Tues I saw Windows wanted to do an update, so I ran it.  Now on Win 11 24H2.

And Turbo Tax won't open at all.  I start it and immediately get the "Looks like we've run into an error" window.  I don't even get far enough to get the message about how it's taking a little longer than a minute....

It's now Wed morning.  I uninstalled TT, restarted computer, went back to TT Install page and downloaded latest install package.

Same problem.  I can't even begin to open TT.

Tried calling on the phone.  Got someone who had me run cmd to check file structure.  All OK.  He's the one who said uninstall and reinstall.

Now I've been trying to get back on the phone with someone, but the auto-voice person is so dumb it's taken me 3 phone calls to finally get a live person.

I’m about done with Turbotax forever.

Yesterday my Fed return was error checked, no errors, showed a $2K refund due.  State return partially done and showed a $503 balance due.

Today, opened Turbo to complete State return.  Turbo downloaded/installed updates. On relaunch, and before entering any data, Fed refund decremented to $503 and state balance due stayed at $503.

How can anyone trust this software to guide their dealings with government revenue agencies?

I am having a problem with the desktop 2024 Mac version. The software will allow me to import files from "Wells Fargo" but fails to connect to "Wells Fargo Advisors". I have been trying for 3 days to get support.  My Financial Advisor even opened a ticket with Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo says it is a Turbotax problem. I have been using Turbotax for 30 years and have never had a problem until this year. Intuit gets a big fat ZERO when it comes to customer support.

    February 22, 2025

When you see Wells Fargo Advisors in the Search Results, double-click it and you'll get to the Sign In screen.

If you've gotten that far, what happens after that?  If you can give more info, we'll try to help.  Make sure your account allows 'third party access'.

I dont want to import most of the data, why cant I just enter it manually?

Also, the default screen for importing data is messed up; some of the "institutions" are actually individual funds inside the  institution.

    Last year was MUCH easier!

Another software glitch is on SCh SE it is not picking up the W-2 amounts and adding to line 5a.  I can override, but will probably have to file a paper form.  Sorry Turbotax, you've messed this up

@culbrethcw   Why do you need it on SE line 5a?  That is only for clergy and Church wages.

I have used turbotax for at least 16 years, so listen to me intuit.  YOUR PROGRAM FOR 2024 SUCKS THE BIG TOE.  i just purchased a new HP computer that meets all your requirements and runs on  windows 11 home (not S, not pro).  I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, and tried running program as the adminstrator (which i am).  i have tried everything on your forum and on microsofts forum.  IT DOES NOT WORK.  The download occurs, and then  it says "extracting files", and NOTHING HAPPENS.  I have already spent 2 hours on this, i need to go back to stapes and get a refund on the keys i purchased because your website does suck.

Noticed that data ported from federal to state did not transfer properly.  It's linked to my SSN, not my spouse's and I can't correct it.  I also can't find a way to report it to TurboTax to get it corrected.  How do we get this resolved?

    February 27, 2025

When you enter documents in the Federal section, it's important to indicate who they belong to (W-2, 1099-R, 1099-Int, etc.).

If you haven't filed yet, go back to your Federal entries and be sure they are indicated as belonging to the right person.  You can change that if not correct.

If you've already filed, wait until you receive your Refund, and you can then Amend your return.

If you're using TurboTax Online, after making any changes to your Federal return, clear your Cache and Cookies and then step through your state return to see if the issue is resolved.

Here's more info on Do I Need to Amend?

Re: assigning ownership of an asset in TT.

It was noted that it is important to assign ownership of an asset in TT when filing jointly. However, when downloading information, TT defaults to the primary SS number, even if that is wrong. It must then be corrected.

can't efile MN state tax because it says for 6251 must be filed with the state taxes. Form 6251 is completed and shows in the forms. Why will TurboTax not include it so I can efile?????

Do you see Schedule M1MT, Alternative Minimum Tax, in your Minnesota return?

If you're using TurboTax Online, in the left-side menu, go to Tax Tools > Tools, then choose View Tax Summary from the pop-up menu.

Back at the left-side menu, choose MN Tax Summary.

I have reinstalled after uninstall and this still does NOT work. I have used TurboTax for years and of course the cheaper (pay more) CDless download doesn't Work!

    March 2, 2025

Installing TurboTax from a download can be blocked for several reasons; the most common being anti-virus software (Windows Defender), ad blocking software, McAffee/Norton, even modem software.

Temporarily disable these types of programs, and you should be able to download successfully.

If not, there are some other things to try, such as changing your Internet security settings from Medium-High to Medium, or adding TurboTax to trusted sites.

Since we can't know everyone's individual computer system configurations, its very difficult to determine why you're having download issues, while others are not.

Tech Support can go into your computer to help with this.  Here's how to Contact TurboTax Support.

I think you should take the time to look at all the comments about installation. In many cases there are no solutions. Those people who have reached out for help this year have also constantly found that there really is no quality response. TurboTax support as well as software quality seem to be gone, and I believe their choice to focus on AI going forward is going to cost them all of their long-term users. I talk with those who are 30+ years younger than me, and they just laugh and say anyone who uses the paid for solutions really are missing the quality of the IRS recommended solutions. Personally, I would have never believed those comments before this year because I have never really had major issues and if I had a minor one a quick phone call or chat got me a solution or a timeframe for the repair.
