Hello, I'm currently a full time college student who is 19 years old. I'm filling out a W4 for my first ever job in my life. My parents have claimed me as a dependent and I'm having a tough time filling out the W4. By the end of this year, I will make around $4000. How many allowances should I claim? Also for the state of Michigan, what does "Enter the number of personal and dependent exemptions you are claiming:" mean?

For federal, are you filling out this form to determine the answer? I would expect 1 or 0 is where you land as the tax is minimal on $4000

For Michigan, suggest using 1 Personal exemption and I imagine you have no dependents (children)
