Question

I sold my home last year, got married & moved into my wifes home, how do I submit the interest & taxes for that home?

If you are able to exclude the gain and you did not get a 1099-S for the sale, you do not have to enter the sale of your prior personal home.

You enter mortgage interest and property taxes in the Deduction and Credits section.

Here's how to enter your mortgage interest statement in TurboTax

    1. With your return open, search for "1098" and (then property taxes) and then click or tap the "Jump to" link in the search results.
    2. Answer any preliminary questions, and you'll then be asked for the name of your mortgage company. Enter the name and select Continue.
    3. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter the rest of your 1098 info.
