Importing previous year data

For the first year i filed a joint return so that we could split pension income

1. I opened my 2020 return and worked from there. Is there any way that I could have

imported my spouse's data from the previous year

2. Will both persons 2021 data be carried forward next year when we do income tax

Thanks in advance

If you have prepared separately last year then there is no way to import and merge the data in this year's return. The best way to move forward would be to prepare the returns together this year and from the next year the information should be available for carry forward. Its more work this year but from then onward you will be all set.
