How do I report the 4797 on turbo. I reported the sale of the rental under the depreciation tab and added sale of business property too. but it did not generate the 4797 form . please provide the steps to do this thanks

Entering the sale of your rental property in the Sale of Business Property section should generate a Form 4797.

Since we can't see your return in this forum, I would suggest you go back and check your entries. Type 'sale of business property' in the Search area, and 'Jump to sale of business property'.

At the screen 'Any Other Property Sales', make sure only the first box is checked and Continue.

At the next screen, EDIT Copy 1, and EDIT the rental sale.

Review your entries for the Sale on next screen to be sure they are correct. This is what generates the Form 4797.
