I have Turbotax Premier. I have passive rental loss carryover from last year. However, next to each house, I only have Section 179 Carryover input that give me errors at Smartcheck. I should have somewhere to input Passive Loss Carryover. Is this a software problem? What should I do?

Passive losses carried over from a Rental Property are entered under the Property Profile during the interview for that property. Look for a question like "I have passive activity losses carried over from last year." Check the box and TurboTax will ask you for the carryover amount later in the interview.

The easiest way to find the appropriate section of TurboTax is to go to My Account >> Tools >> Topic Search. Type in "passive loss carryover", then click the topic in the list that applies to go directly to the start of that section.

Quick question: should we choose check box "I have at-risk losses carried over from 2022"?

Yes, use the checkbox for this question.  The only amounts that are considered at risk is funds you obtained that are not secured as a lien on the property or yourself. Basically it is protected from loss.

    1. I have at risk losses carried over from 2022.
