In 2024 we completely remodeled our rental property. This included new kitchen, bath, flooring, appliances, plumbing and totally painting inside and out. The house was not rented during this process, however, we were preparing it for rent after the renters destroyed it. Should the $3,000 paint job be claimed in the expenses section or should it go somewhere else?

I would expense the $3,000 for painting as a repairs & maintenance expense.
