Question

Why is there no place to enter the date land was acquired when reporting the sale of this land?

    There is.  You enter it on the same screen screen where you enter the type of investment and the proceeds.  It is in the box that says "When did you receive this investment"  that is the date you purchased it or otherwise received it.
