Death of significant other

I'm sorry for your loss @Mouse :(

One thought popped into my head reading your post - what about calling the companies who your significant other owed the debt to and explain the situation, maybe they can offer some ideas? 

Also since I work on the Turbo iOS app during the day, I've learned about companies that offer loans to help pay debt down, at a lower interest rate, so the monthly payments should go down. In my mind it always felt weird to borrow more money to pay off another debt, but if it lowers my monthly payment to make that day to day living easier, it might be worth considering.
