Gas used when working as a home health aide

Hi,

For all of 2021 I have been working as a home health aide which requires me to travel to multiple homes daily.  I was told that in 2017 gas used in this type of situation was no longer deductible and I'm wondering if that is the case.  I'm using about $60 a week in gas and since I don't make a whole lot if there is any recourse to claim any of that it would be helpful.  Thanks so much for your time.

Do you get a W2 or 1099MISC, 1099NEC for your income?  If you are an employee on W2 then sorry, job expenses are still not deductible.   Employee job expenses and other misc deductions have been suspended from 2018-2025. See

If you get a 1099NEC and file as self employment income on Schedule C then  you can deduct your expenses.
