Got a stimulus check before I could amend my taxes

I received a stimulus check through direct deposit before I could amend my taxes. I didn't check that I can and will be claimed as a dependent on my 2019 tax return, so I filed to amend it but it won't be processed for 12-16 weeks according to the IRS website. I've seen people say to return it, but I've also seen people say that the IRS is saying to keep it. I'm not sure what to do because if I would definitely keep the money if I can since I need it, but if I have to return it I will. What should I do?

Will you be a dependent again in 2020 or will you file on your own (not as a dependent) for that tax year?

If you will, then you can safely keep the funds.  If you will not, or you are not sure, I would set them aside or otherwise be prepared to return them if asked.

I will be filed as dependent again in 2020. Will I be able to keep the funds if I will be a dependent next year? I'm unsure if you're referring to filing as dependent or independent for 2020
