Question

If I have 2 dependents who both receive SSDI, can I claim them without effecting their monthly benefit amount?

They are not relatives to me legally but are Uncle and Nephew to each other. The nephew is my significant other.

Claiming them should not affect their SS benefits.  It will prevent them from receiving stimulus money.  So you had better be really sure you can claim them.

IRS interview to help determine who can be claimed:

@xmasbaby0 I didn't see anything there about the stimulus. I don't want them to lose that either. Just need a little help financially to keep me and my 4 dependents afloat.

Since they are not related to you, they only make you eligible for the non refundable $500 Other dependent credit.

@Hal_Al  That is what I saw when I put the information in, and that is fine. But now I'm worried about the stimulus money if there is another one. I didn't think of that and don't want them to lose that either.
