It certainly sounds suspicious--especially with no children!!
The forum filter will not allow an email address to be posted, so the sender's email address you mentioned as part of your question above was redacted. You'll have to write it so the filter won't erase it, such as in this style: customerservice at something dot com.
Don't click on any links in the email and don't download any attachments.
A lot of scam emails look convincingly real, and can spoof the sender's email address to make it look legitimate in an attempt to phish personal info or to implant malware, etc.
Does it appear to come from anything allegedly in regard to TurboTax/Intuit? If so, we can tell you how to report the email.
What does the email ask you to do?
