I sold a house bond for deed a few years ago, but last year the purchaser failed to pay the real estate taxes, which I ended up paying.  Can I deduct this on my tax return?

    Yes.

If you are able to itemize your deductions, you can deduct the amount paid in property taxes on your return.

All of your input needs to be entered in the Federal section of the return.

    1. Go to the Federal section in the left panel
    2. Select "Deductions & Credits"
    3. Go to All tax breaks, select "Your Home"
    4. Select "Property (Real Estate) Taxes
