State Return to Compare States

I am married, 70 years old and live in South Carolina. I've used Turbo Tax for about ten years. Love it.

Being retired, we can elect to live anywhere, but state tax structures are an important consideration.

Does anyone know of a simple, inexpensive way to take my South Carolina tax return information and drop it into another state to compare the state income tax situation between the two states?

I know there are "Retirement Friendly States" web sites with information, but doing like-for-like tax forms would be a very accurate means to compare.

Is there a Turbo Tax state return that would allow this kind of comparison even if it couldn't be printed or saved?

Thanks

TurboTax doesn't offer, to my knowledge, a way to compare state tax situations.   Comparison is available if you'd like to purchase state programs, which depend first on your federal return info, to calculate state tax outcomes.

However, you should be able to get state tax forms on each of the states' revenue websites.  In general, there is information on each website regarding tax percentages, deductions, etc.  Maybe you could narrow down the states that you're considering and then work through each state's tax situation to determine the best for you.

Of course, you know there are several states that have no (or virtually no) state income taxes.  Those states are listed in the TurboTax FAQ below.  Best of luck during these retirement years!
