Stimulus Payment for Turbo Tax users who owed taxes in 2019.

I "owed" additional taxes when I filed in 2019.  So, my additional tax payment was automatically deducted from my checking account by the IRS via the account information I provided to Turbo Tax when I filed.  So, Turbo tax had my account information as should the IRS.  Why didn't the IRS then have my account information to deposit a Stimulus payment in my Checking last week?  The IRS "Get My Payment" site said the IRS "needed my direct deposit information."   Why didn't the IRS already have that information from Turbo Tax?

because the IRS only picked up banking information if you had direct deposit (got a refund).  if you owed money and had that directly debited, they did not pick up that information.  I ran into that as well.

It's a IRS thing - not related to TT.

not sure why, but if you look closely at the IRS 1040, the banking information is part of the 'refund' section and not part of the "I owe" section, so from that standpoint, the IRS behavior is consistent with the form.
