Have used TurboTax for over 10 years.  It used to be a really good tax software.  Over the years the quality has continued to decline.  I upgraded from Deluxe to Home and Business for 2021.  There were so many errors it has made me lose confidence in the accuracy of the software.  The largest problem was the transfer of data from Deluxe 2020 to Home and Business 2021.  State taxes, taxable income, AGI, QBI, charitable contributions, all were transferred over incorrectly or not transferred at all.  The Tax Help option was pretty worthless.  Most of what I searched on produced totally unrelated results. Data Source unavailable for many boxes.  It took me 3 times as long to do my taxes this year because of all the time it took correcting mistakes and searching for information.  Really, really poor quality control of the product.  I have always been confident that my risks of audits were low.  I don't have that confidence for my 2021 returns.  Will definitely search for other tax software options for 2022.  Really disappointing.

Help!

I need technical assistance.  I downloaded two TurboTax deluxe packages.  When launched the first package I was able to complete the Federal Taxes but cannot launch the state software package.  Could someone please help?

Relieved that’s how I feel! Lol

Every year I wait till the very end to file and I patiently wait for a return, as I did this year too. Yes, changes can/will be made and that can be such a drag but for the most part, it was fast, easy and it’s finally done. Now, we grind until it’s time to do it all over again. See you next year!

It was easy to use, until I became confused about some of the items it was asking about. It took me approximately a week of going back to it before I was confident enough to submit it. Then I got an error about it being incomplete, so I would go back through. Don't know what I did different the last time but it went thru finally with a turbo tax experts guidance. I felt like a huge weight was liffted off of me when it finally submitted. Thank you Turbo Tax

Maybe it is just me, but the links between data entries for the federal return were not explained, highlighted, nor detailed so that connection was often missed by myself the first time thorugh.  Best example I can come up with since it is fresh in my memory are the medical deductions.   For federal did not enter any medical cost data since I know the threshold percentage would not be reach.  In fact, I used standard deduction.  However, the threshold for my state was much different.  As a result, there were a number of medical deductions that helped lower my state tax.  I recommend that for each deduction category, anywhere that the deduction cost data should be entered for potential benefit on one's state taxes, TT should highlight that fact and encourage user to enter the details, which can be time-consuming, for the benefit of reducing state taxes.

Hope this help improve the user experience with 2022 version of TT.

I feel extremely relieved. Mostly because this year a lot of my life has changed and is still changing quickly. For example, I'm going to college this year and also buying a motorcycle to go to school.

Glad it is done. Surprised by the extra fee for TT to file my single state return, which I think is a change from previous years (I have been using the same level each year). A little annoyed by the process of choosing and paying that fee and feel a little misled by the confusing descriptions of what that fee would be, and also annoyed because I had to go back and redo the end of the return so as not to pay an extra extra fee, and the software kept kicking me out - as though to frustrate me enough to get me to agree to the 2nd extra fee, which I would not do.

It didn't seem to me that filling in the return was quite as easy this year as in previous years, or that the online explanations were as straightforward. But because of previous years' experience w/TT, I feel relatively confident that my returns will be accepted and that everything will go smoothly from here out.

While doing my 2021 taxes, TurboTax asked if my W-2 box 12 has an amount, it does, then it gave me these messages:

"You may want to withdraw money from your HSAs"

"It looks like you have an excess contribution of $2,977 This amount is being taxed an extra 6%"

"But, anything withdrawn between January 1st and April 18, 2022 avoids this additional tax"

I tried contacting the IRS with no success. Can someone assist, please?

Thank you in advance.

The lady who helped me today (04-12-2022) at about 10:30 am did a great job.  Many thanks.

Misled.  Advertised one free state return and had to 25.00 to file state return
