Question

does anyone experience turbo tax error in entering zero for a state income tax amount and not the amount imported from the W-2?

My federal return is all good, but the MI state return showed zero tax withheld instead of the amount reported on the imported W-2.

Look for EDIT/UPDATE or REVIEW to correct information on your W-2.

You are probably missing the name of the State.

The form was correct. State income tax was correctly imported and reflected in the summary. Will call TurboTax to see if they can help or I have to file an amendment with MI  manually. Sounds like a software problem in the MI module.

For any tax form you import...it is CRITICAL that you always Edit the form after importing it, to make sure every box is correct.  Formatting problems form the imported file can and do happen.

And.....if you "uploaded" the tax file from a picture or a PDF file (as opposed to "importing" from a financial provider)...then that can lead to all kinds of formatting disasters.  You should enter manually the tax form instead.
