Question

How can I get credited for the retirement savings credit? I qualify for the credit but the application is say I dont have any tax liability left. But i do.

    The Saver's Credit is non-refundable and must be applied to your income tax liability.  If you owe self-employment tax or something other than income tax, then the Saver's Credit cannot reduce those tax liabilities.

     

    If you are getting the message that you qualify for the credit but have no tax liability left, then the message is referring to your income tax liability only.
