how do i enter one lump sum irs payment

entering under additional payments does not work

Enter it as an estimated payment. With your return open:

Click on Search
Type in "Estimated Tax Payments"
Click on "Jump to estimated tax payments"
Select the type of estimated payment you made and click on Search next to it.
Enter your payment details
