Military Retirement Pay Exemption Louisiana

I am unable to get the Louisiana tax form to exempt my retired military pay.   I’ve tried using code 04E and 05E and it continues to not remove the retired pay from my income.  I get a message that I need to go back to the federal form and fix it there as no amount is showing up.  I entered everything there is to enter and still no luck.  I saw a response from a few years back and it shows a table that it can be entered into in the state form but not sure that is the correct way to do it.  This seems to be a problem almost every year.

I am able to exempt military pension from the Louisiana state income tax return by reporting the pension at the screen Military Retirement.

I thought I had responded but I guess not, sorry.  I don’t have the screen you are showing.  In the federal tax form there is a similiar form but it is does not have the title Military Retirement and does not have three boxes at the bottom to fill in the dollar amount.  In the state tax form, this doesn’t even appear.

In TurboTax Deluxe Desktop, the screen Where Is This Distribution From and Military Retirement is found amongst the entry screens for the military retirement 1099-R.

Are you using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop?
