Question

Why did turbotax add Form 8959 when I did not make over the limit? How can I remove it?

You use this form to figure:

  • the amount of additional Medicare tax you owe and
  • the amount of additional Medicare tax withheld by your employer, if any.

TurboTax will automatically add Form 8959 to your return if your income exceeds the threshold amount for your filing status.

The threshold is $250,000 for jointly filing couples, $125,000 for married couples filing separately, and $200,000 for everybody else.
