Social Security doesn't have a TIN or EIN so why is Turbo Tax asking for one?

There is no Payer ID for a SSA1099.  You are trying to enter it in the wrong place.

 

 

 Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

I think you reported this as 1099R income rather than Social Security income. Go to the retirement section where you entered the income and delete the 1099R entry by selecting the trash icon or delete button that appears next to it on the summary page.

 

Now go to retirement income>Social Security (SSA 1099,RRB 1099) to report your Social Security income.  It will not ask for a TIN or EIN.
