Question

(1) Automatic Extension (Form 4868) and (2) Review Phase

Hello:

I filled out most of my Form 1040-SR (on the next to the last step - Review) last night (5/17/21). I decided that I needed more time to finish. So I filled out a Form 4868 (Extension to File). Two Questions:

(1) Although I printed out the filled out form, did Turbotax automatically file this on-time for me? If yes, fine. If not, did I miss the opportunity to get an official extension? and if so, what can I do?

(2) I am at the REVIEW step. Can I still go back and change some items? I did not enter any Business Expenses and that was a mistake. Can I go back and still enter them?

1. Printing the form is not the same as pushing the button to transmit the extension. I don't have access to your return to know what you did. However, if you are filing this week, it won't really matter.

2. Yes, you can go back and make changes to your return until you hit the actual transmit my return button at the end of step 3 FILE stage.
