Question

Can a payment made to me in 2021 using old EIN from sole proprietorship be reported through the LLC (s-corp) that I started in 2021 to replace the sole proprietorship?

A company that paid me did not update their records and I am getting push back about them recreating the 1099-NEC sent to me with the updated EIN.  I'm wondering if there is a way to circumvent this in my tax filing to avoid the hassle with the company.

In fact, you can report the income on that 1099-NEC in the name of your S-Corp without entering the 1099-NEC. This is accepted by the IRS.

Just keep that form 1099-NEC in your tax records and in case of inquiy by the IRS, you can prove that the income has been reported by the S-Corp.
