Question

Can anyone help with filing a 1099-MISC form that I received for relocation assistance for a job?

I received it in Dec 2023 but didn't start work until Jan 2024.

You will need to report the assistance received as income in 2023. Here is how to report your 1099-MISC. 

 

Although moving expenses are not deductible on the federal level through the tax year 2025 (unless you meet a narrow qualification), you can still report the expense, and it will possibly be deducted on the state level. Read about it here.
